Mae Whitman stars alongside Carlos Valdez in Hulu’s Up Here as co-lead and voices Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender; she currently resides in Los Angeles.

Levenson and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel wrote the show, with Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez creating new songs from Frozen; Thomas Kail of Hamilton will direct.

Mae Whitman’s Biography

Mae Whitman has been acting professionally since she was six years old, starting in commercials before landing a role opposite Meg Ryan in Meg Ryan’s 1996 movie When a Man Loves a Woman. Since then she has gone on to star in TV series like Fillmore! and CSI as well as numerous movies like One Fine Day, Hope Floats, and The Wild Thornberrys Movie; additionally she’s made numerous guest appearances on popular shows such as JAG, State of Grace and Desperate Housewives among many others.

Mae has also appeared in multiple TV movies, such as The Gingerbread Man (1998) and A Season for Miracles (1999). Additionally, she provided the voice for 10-year-old Maria in Disney’s Once Upon a Christmas (1996) production. Mae landed a recurring role as Libby Magruder on JAG for three seasons beginning in 1999 – twice nominated as Best Actress in a Play.
