Felicity Jones: Award-winning British Actress

Felicity Jones is an award-winning British actress known for her roles in period pieces and sci-fi films such as The Theory of Everything with Eddie Redmayne as Jane Hawking.

She made a cameo appearance as Jyn Erso in Rogue One, a spin-off from the Star Wars franchise. Often cast as determined brunettes or snobby women.

Felicity Jones’ Biography

This biopic follows the life and career of esteemed British physicist Stephen Hawking and depicts his story of love and tragedy with great insight. Though some facts may be altered for dramatic effect, director James Marsh still captures all the excitement of young love as well as bittersweet romance perfectly.

Eddie Redmayne gives an outstanding performance as Stephen Hawking. Audience members will easily connect to his character, while his interactions with Jones create some of the most touching scenes in the movie.

The Theory of Everything is an essential viewing experience. Critically acclaimed and receiving many awards and nominations, this film tells an emotional yet inspiring tale about a brilliant mind struggling against illness in his bid for dignity.

Felicity Rose Hadley Jones is an English actress best known for her roles in films and television shows such as ‘The Theory of Everything’ where she won numerous awards and was nominated for an Academy Award nomination for her performance. Additionally, she can be found in other movies/shows like Brideshead Revisited, Flashbacks of a Fool, Dancing at Lughnasa, The Diary of Anne Frank, Cemetery Junction, etc.

Raised alongside her brother, Jones has always felt close to her family; her father is a former journalist while her mother worked in advertising. Jones discovered her passion for acting early on in theatre productions before going on to model fashion shoots for magazines and fashion shoots for magazines.

After her breakthrough roles in Weirdsister College and The Worst Witch, she has made quite the name for herself in Hollywood. Nominated for a Golden Globe and winning many other awards for her performances, her recent roles include Jyn Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Theory of Everything. Born Julia Jones to Gareth Hadley she is Michael Hadley’s niece.

Felicity Jones in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

As revealed by Star Wars Episode IV of A New Hope’s opening crawl, Rebel spies successfully stole secret plans of the Death Star from Imperial forces, inspiring Gareth Edwards to create a standalone film set in an alien galaxy on an epic mission of deception and destiny starring Jyn Erso (played by Felicity Jones). Fans would not have wanted anyone else to fill her shoes as Jyn Erso has become a beloved character within Star Wars fandom.

Jones had already established herself to a wide audience through her eight episodes as Lady Eddison on Doctor Who alongside David Tennant’s eccentric time traveler, however, her role as Jyn in Rogue One catapulted her profile to an entirely new level.

Rogue One boasted an incredible ensemble cast, led by Chinese martial arts stars Donnie Yen and Wen Jiang in their roles as blind warrior monk Chirrut Imwe and his mercenary companion Baze Malbus respectively. Additionally, Rogue One featured some of the most dynamic characters and well-developed narrative in all of Star Wars with some of its fiercest battle scenes yet seen.

Thus it was no surprise that the film was both commercially and critically successful, garnering both Oscar and BAFTA nominations for Jones. But this only marked the start of her successful year; following this role, she reunited with Eddie Redmayne for period drama The Theory of Everything as well as portraying constitutional lawyer/future Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg based on Sex.

Felicity Jones has also become known as an accomplished voice actor and has made appearances on The Big Bang Theory and The Office as a guest star. Ralph Lauren and Adidas have both used Felicity as a brand ambassador since 2014. She now resides with her husband and son in London where she continues her acting and project development work while championing women’s rights and social issues as an advocate; working on numerous charitable causes along the way.

Felicity Jones in Chalet Girl

Felicity Jones may be best known for her role as Jane Hawking in the 2014 film The Theory of Everything, but her career started on television. She was featured in several small roles across several shows but it was her role as Robina Redmond on Downton Abbey that brought critical acclaim and earned her a BAFTA nomination.

After her acclaimed performance in the drama, Jones went on to secure larger and bigger projects. She appeared in movies and TV series such as The Age of Innocence (2004), Northanger Abbey (2007), Cheri (2008), The Tempest 2009 with Ralph Fiennes as Ralph, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) among many more.

Chalet Girl was directed by Phil Trail and featured Ed Westwick of Gossip Girl fame alongside Tamsin Egerton, Bill Nighy, and Brook Shields as co-stars. The film follows skateboard champion Kim Matthews (Egerton), a pretty tomboy who becomes employed as a chalet girl in the Alps.

Kim finds herself attracted to the son of a wealthy family, but this new relationship becomes difficult when his mother becomes aware. Throughout this film, both Kim and Georgie must balance work and romance.

Filming of this project took place on location in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Sankt Anton am Arlberg, Austria. Actors spent two months in these mountain locations getting used to cold temperatures and the physical demands of filming; Jones worked with a snowboard trainer six hours daily for six weeks to learn her role on screen.

Jones soon went on to play Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg in the biopic based on Sex (2018) and also reunited with her Rogue One co-stars for an appearance in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2021). As Jones continues her impressive acting career in both gripping dramas and major blockbusters alike, there seems no end in sight for her future success.

Like Crazy

Felicity Jones first made her mark as Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything and is equally captivating as Anna in Like Crazy – an indie romance film exploring young adults falling in love while dealing with distance, emotional upheavals, time zones, and immigration bureaucracy.

Drake Doremus encourages his actors to improvise dialogue for their films, creating an authentic and genuine experience that avoids scripted lines and too-wordy scripts. Furthermore, Doremus uses montages that allow his leads to explore certain emotions further, further deepening character development and making the storyline even more captivating.

Doremus won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2011, earning critical praise and garnering Anton Yelchin and Jones high praise for their incredible performances as it became a semi-autobiographical drama, touching upon real relationships that have come and gone in real life. It can easily resonate with anyone who’s experienced true love’s challenges.

Both actors are outstanding; Jones stands out for her captivating eyes and expressive eyebrows which draw one into her character who constantly searches for acceptance, becoming increasingly vulnerable as time progresses. Her fragility is matched only by her strength of will to keep a relationship going even when that proves impossible – truly unforgettable.

Yelchin is equally brilliant despite a relatively limited role to play. Still, his performance remains delightful and was one of his most affecting and understated ever.

10 years on, audiences still remember Jones for her memorable role in that movie. While making waves in Hollywood, Jones remains dedicated to not being typecast as just a “good British girl”. Her recent roles are further proof of her talent – we can’t wait to see where this rising star goes next!
