Eve Hewson: Irish Actress

Eve Hewson is the daughter of activist Ali Hewson and U2 frontman Paul Hewson (Bono). Her sister is musician Jordan; furthermore, she has two younger brothers named singer Elijah and actor John.

She has appeared in multiple films and television shows, such as Lost and Found, 27 Club, This Must Be the Place, Blood Ties, and Enough Said. Most recently she co-starred as one of two protagonists on Apple TV+ dark comedy Bad Sisters.

Eve Hewson’s Biography

Eve Hewson was born July 7 in Dublin, Ireland to Paul David Hewson (also known as Bono). As his daughter, Hewson has an intense appreciation for her craft and an expanding fan base. Over her career, she has worked on multiple film and television productions with directors like Tom Hanks and Steven Soderbergh recognizing her beauty and talent.

Hewson made her acting debut alongside her sister Jordan in 2005 in the short movie Lost and Found; then made her feature-length debut two years later with Erica Dunton’s The 27 Club. That year, Hewson participated in an acting program at New York Film Academy before going on to star in both a music video and a short movie for Irish band The Script’s song For the First Time in 2010.

Hewson quickly distinguished herself as an actress within the film industry and received her big break in 2011 when she appeared alongside Sean Penn and Frances McDormand in Paolo Sorrentino’s This Must Be the Place. Since then she has gone on to land other notable roles, such as Blood Ties’ Yvonne as well as Nurse Lucy Elkins in Steven Soderbergh’s television show The Knick.

She has provided the voice of one of Tiny Commandos’ characters and currently stars as Becka in Apple TV+’s Bad Sisters series. Additionally, Adele will make an appearance in the 2021 psychological thriller miniseries Behind Her Eyes.

She attended Dalkey School Project and St Andrew’s College in Dublin before graduating with a BA in Drama from New York University. Hewson currently stars as Becka Garvey in Apple TV+ dark comedy thriller Bad Sisters. She joins Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, and Sarah Greene – returning cast members who reprise their roles – as five sisters reunite after one is murdered by Claes Bang’s abusive husband Claes Bang.

Hewson will also star in Hedda, an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 play about an unruly wife trapped in her marriage, written and directed by Mia DaCosta (Creed). Tessa Thompson will play her counterpart.

John Carney has cast her in several of his films, such as Sing Street and Oscar winner Once. Most recently, Flora and Son were shown at Sundance this year and stars Hewson as a troubled single mother who bonds with her son through music after finding an abandoned guitar in a dumpster – Joseph Gordon-Levitt co-stars as well.

Hewson has continued her acclaimed TV and film acting career since joining Netflix’s Bad Sisters series two seasons ago as the lead character, including appearances in the 2012 drama The Devil Wears Prada as well as the leading role in Netflix’s Bad Sisters 2. For its second season premiere this October, Hewson and her sisters –Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, and Sarah Greene–are back to deal with the aftermath of her abusive husband’s death and deal with their lives post-divorce.

Hewson is currently shooting a limited series for Netflix that stars Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber as three separate characters who take guitar lessons for their son to connect. At Sundance, she earned rave reviews for her lead performance in John Carney’s Dublin-set musical dramedy Flora and Son, which Apple acquired after a bidding war that reached $20 Million+.

Hewson will appear alongside Tessa Thompson and Michael Fassbender in an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s 1891 stage play Hedda Gabler for which she’ll play one of the lead roles, as well as co-starring in Nia DaCosta’s forthcoming Marvel comic book adaptation film titled The New Mutants by Nia DaCosta.

Hewson will feature in an Otto Bathurst folktale adaptation of Robin Hood with Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, and Jamie Dornan as part of her 2019 schedule. Additionally, she’ll appear in Behind Her Eyes–a psychological thriller miniseries–playing Adele.
