Ella Emhoff: Fashion Model and a Knitwear Designer

Ella Emhoff, daughter of Vice President Joe Biden’s Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, made headlines at her father’s inauguration with her stunning Miu Miu coat and custom Batsheva dress adorned with sequins from Miu Miu and Batsheva respectively. Now modeling and designing professionally are on her agenda!

She studied textiles at Parsons and is an expert knitwear designer, sharing her designs on Instagram.

Ella Emhoff’s Biography

Ella Rose Emhoff was born May 29th, 1999 to Douglas Emhoff and Kerstin Emhoff of Los Angeles. She attended Wildwood School before moving on to Parsons School of Design where her Instagram following has reached over 300,000. Most recently she has begun designing knitwear clothing as part of her clothing line.

Ella Rose Emhoff made an impressionable entrance at her stepmother’s inauguration ceremony in January 2021, drawing rave reviews with her Miu Miu plaid embellished coat. Within days after, her Instagram following had doubled and people from all around the globe began searching for her on Google; additionally, she joined the 3% Movement that works to increase female creative directors within fashion.

Next month, she was signed by IMG Models, joining its roster of A-List models such as Gigi and Bella Hadid, Karlie Kloss, and Gisele B1/4ndchen. Since joining, she has appeared in high-profile advertising campaigns as well as walking the runways of top designers like Balenciaga, Loewe, and Stella McCartney – not to mention numerous fashion magazines like Vogue.

Ella Rose Emhoff is not only a model; she’s also an artist and designer. She runs her own website/online shop where she sells handmade clothes such as sweaters and hats she created herself; ceramics production; drawing/painting sessions and poetry writing are among her many talents; she recently published a book of her work as well!

Ella Rose has become an outspoken supporter of LGBT rights. She has spoken out against Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage, as part of her fight for equal marriage rights in America. Additionally, she supports For the Gworls – which raises funds to assist black transgender folx with housing costs, travel costs, and surgery – as an organization. As a result of these efforts, she was named Harper’s Bazaar Icon.

Ella Emhoff’s Education

Ella Emhoff is a fashion designer and college student specializing in knitting. She designs sweater vests, hats, and even a Tweety Bird purse; recently launched a collection of five unique pieces on Mall (a shopping platform for up-and-coming designers), which sold out all within hours! A 21-year-old graduate of New School’s Parsons School of Design in Manhattan with over 300,000 Instagram followers who follow her work regularly, she frequently posts photos of both her creations as well as her knitting loom.

Ella made headlines for her stylish outfit while attending her stepmom’s swearing-in as Vice President. Shortly thereafter, she signed with IMG Models and made her first runway appearance during New York Fashion Week (NYFW) followed by Paris Fashion Week in September.

Brooklynite Shereen Hajjar’s unique style reflects both her political and artistic roots, from Crocs to mismatched handmade clothing, cartoonish tattoos of eggs and bacon in the shape of smiley faces, refusing to shave her armpit hair and garnering national and international media coverage through refusing shave. Additionally, she belongs to The 3% Movement which promotes diversity within the modeling industry.

Ella was originally represented by Joseph Charles Viola of Buffalo Zine magazine before joining IMG Models. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art from The New School and is currently working towards her Master’s in Textiles from Parsons. Ella has become known for being a creative, original, and quirky designer; reflecting the distinctive qualities she displays online through social media posts and her style choices.

Fashion icon Lauren Conrad has gained immense attention online thanks to her bold sense of style. She often delights fans on social media by posting images and videos showcasing her latest outfit, often including photos or videos showing off her latest frock – recently she took to Twitter to showcase it with curly mullets and a waist-cinching black dress as part of it!

Ella Emhoff’s Family

Ella Emhoff is the stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris. Ella Emhoff is the daughter of Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff and stepdaughter of Vice President Kamala Harris; recently, she participated in New York Fashion Week as a model and showcased her knitwear collection available online and in select boutiques across the US. Commonly referred to by both parties as “Momala”, Ella is known for her eye for fashion as well as the strong political views she freely shares about dress design – both passions she holds onto with an interest that could one day become her career goal of becoming an aspiring fashion designer herself!

Emhoff first became interested in fashion at an early age and began modeling when she was 14. Since then she has appeared in commercials, magazines, and music videos for artists such as Drake, Rihanna, and Nicki Minaj as well as being signed with IMG Models as a face for various brands and services.

At her inauguration, she made an impression entrance wearing an embellished Miu Miu coat and collared Batsheva dress, both designed by Parsons School of Design graduate Agata Mizuno. Since then, the Parsons School of Design graduate has launched her line of knitwear which has since become part of New York Fashion Week shows and her runway debut.

She has an edgy style, with an eclectic combination of pieces. In one recent Instagram post, she donned a cream knit dress that hugged her body and highlighted her tattoos, prompting many followers to compliment it as “hot.” One person commented, saying the drape in the back was amazing.

Emhoff and her family are politically active, supporting various causes including same-sex marriage. She played an instrumental role in fighting California Proposition 8, as well as having long been affiliated with Democratic Party. Furthermore, Emhoff is an accomplished ice hockey player, participating in the Women’s World Cup of Hockey competition.

She has long had an interest in art, drawing, and painting since she could remember. Her art has been displayed both domestically and abroad, with exhibitions across the US. Additionally, she is actively engaged with her community of Bushwick in Brooklyn where she attended Wildwood School before enrolling at Parsons School of Design to study Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

Ella Emhoff’s Career

The Parsons student from Brooklyn made quite the fashion statement at her stepmother’s inauguration!

As soon as she entered the fashion world, it was obvious she’d make waves. With her unconventional style and support of slow fashion and the queer community catching the attention of fashion insiders and IMG Models signing her. Karlie Kloss, Alek Wek, and Ashley Graham are among their clients represented by IMG.

Emhoff describes her fashion as “Wes Anderson chic.” She doesn’t wear much makeup or meticulously blow-dry her naturally curly locks and only has a handful of tattoos that declare themselves queer or were picked up during quarantine during a pandemic. Additionally, she’s an established knitwear designer and self-starter who regularly posts images of herself wearing her creations on her Instagram page – including brightly-hued striped pants!

Emhoff also studies textile design at New School’s Parsons School of Design and freelances as a photographer and contributes to Buffalo Zine, an indie fashion magazine. She plans on developing her brand as a fashion designer soon by creating quirky knitwear collections of her design.

This 22-year-old’s unique and unconventional style has quickly gained her a following on social media. Recently she became the face of Mulberry’s 2021 rebrand campaign and boasts celebrity clients such as Olivia Munn and Kate Mara as celebrity clients. Additionally, she contributed an article to The New York Times about living as a fashion icon; furthermore, she champions slow fashion through Instagram; supports queer community; she advocates women’s rights – making her an example of today’s political fashionistas.
